Halloween Party

Like many other holidays, Halloween has evolved and changed throughout history. Over 2,000 years ago people called the Celts lived in what is now Ireland, the UK, and parts of Northern France. November 1 was their New Year's Day. They believed that the night before the New Year (October 31) was a time when the living and the dead came together.

 More than a thousand years ago the Christian church named November 1 All Saints Day (also called All Hallows.) This was a special holy day to honour the saints and other people who died for their religion. The night before All Hallows was called Hallows Eve. Later the name was changed to Halloween.

Like the Celts, the Europeans of that time also believed that the spirits of the dead would visit the earth on Halloween. They worried that evil spirits would cause problems or hurt them. So on that night people wore costumes that looked like ghosts or other evil creatures. They thought if they dressed like that, the spirits would think they were also dead and not harm them.

 So - we are gonna have a massive Hallowe'en Ball - Full Fancy Dress & DJ's

After a busy Winter season thanks to you lot. We are almost ready to have a break, refurb. and recharge.

It is 20 months since we opened. And I think we can say we have almost achieved everything we set out to do.

Thanks to All our loyal customers who support our community Pub.

• We have: 4 London Ales on tap, 3 Draught Imported Lagers, 3 Draught Wheat beers, 2 Draught Ciders.
• We have: 18 Amazing World wines, 60 Premium Bottled Beers, 12 Premium Bottled Ciders.
• We have: A Spirit range to die for. A fridge dedicated to quality soft drinks and mixers. Tasty Snacks.
• We have: A Pool table, Darts board, Board games, small library and even a Wii -

Tuesday night is Quiz Night The Charlotte Despard free quiz its free to enter and usually starts about 8.30pm - though it can be a little later if the football is on.  It's a little bit challenging, a little bit bizarre, but always good fun, and never taken too seriously. although winning IS important.  Tuesday's: on Archway Rd, between Highgate & Archway. All you need is a few friends, some General Knowledge and a little humour.
